Earth Day 2020

Happy Earth Day!

The first Earth day was in 1970 – 50 years ago. WOW, how things have changed!

Earth Day was like the exclamation point on a long sentence. The event was a celebration of how much change had been embraced by America. People were moved by Rachel Carson’s
“Silent Spring.” Then, in 1970, the U.S. government formed the EPA and passed the Clean Water, Clean Air and Endangered Species Acts.

Regular citizens acted too. In 1970, people concerned about nuclear weapons testing started the Don’t Make a Wave Committee; it became the international environmental group Greenpeace. Friends of the Earth and the Natural Resources Defense Council were founded. Many more followed and thrive today.

There was a lot of social work, activism, and organizing that was happening around the same time, but the original Earth Day was the idea of one person – Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson. He was 100% onboard with environmental change. He chose to launch the first Earth Day event as a fuse in an already fueled landscape. His innovative action provided unity to the grassroots environmental movement and increased ecological awareness. He said, “The objective was to get a nationwide demonstration of concern for the environment so large that it would shake the political establishment out of its lethargy and finally force this issue permanently onto the national political agenda.” Well, it worked!

Sometimes you have to force an issue to spur change. And sometimes it takes a single spark to start a movement.

We find that companies looking to grow are no different. Forever Young Agency specializes in helping companies through growth transition. Usually it all starts with a single voice and person that can provide unity for the common desire to achieve that change. We focus on a client’s current workflow, HR, and operational abilities but more often than not need the people in it to want it, speak up about it, and be the champion for it.

If your venture is at an inflection point and you want to move forward, be the spark and we can help you change faster and have more fun doing it- after we take out our recycling!
